The Department of Music aims to provide scholarships for as many band members as possible, striving to make participation at little to no cost for all students. We need your support to achieve these goals! See different opportunities for giving, below.
Support the Marching Band
From the first note of the fight song to the final chord of the Alma Mater, the “Pride of Niner Nation” Marching Band brings Niner Nation to life. Your generosity keeps that tradition going.
Donate to the PNNMB
The “Pride of Niner Nation” Marching Band debuted in the Fall of 2015 with a unique pre-game show and exciting half-time performances. Today, it boasts over 170 members, energizing the crowd at football games with cheers for crucial plays, the fight song after every touchdown and the UNC Charlotte Alma Mater after every home game. The 49ers Basketball Band supports both men’s and women’s teams, traveling to annual conference games, including the NCAA basketball tournament.
Scholarships
Scholarships show our students that we value the hard work and dedication they show to Niner Nation every year. This money allows students to attend rehearsals without fear of missing the income they could have by working an evening job. Ultimately, scholarships show students that we are just as invested in their success as they are in ours.
Discretionary Funds
The band relies upon a general discretionary fund to support operating budget expenses not sufficiently covered by other funds. Areas of support include uniforms, instruments, marching shoes, travel expenses, gameday meals and more!
Endowment Funds
We are proud that many of our most loyal supporters have generously established permanent endowments that will provide funding for scholarships for active band members, including the Vickie and Gene Johnson Marching Band Scholarship, the Fischer Family Scholarship, the Williams Dahnert Marching Band Scholarship, the Barnhardt Marching Band Endowment and the Frank E. Wampler, Jr. PNNMB Marching Band Endowment.

“I have been extremely thankful to receive The Charles and Clara Stone Scholarship, Jim and Jamie Self Tuba Scholarship, The Chancellor’s Scholarship and marching band scholarships. As a result of these generous scholarships, I have been able to attend numerous musical performances along with purchasing my own instrument accessories.
I hope to have a long career as a middle or high school band director, where I can make a lasting impact and connect with all of my students and their families. I plan on being a supportive and positive role model for my students both musically and outside of academics.”
